'Outstanding' Primary and Secondary Initial Teacher Training

Welcome to Ripley ITT, part of The Bay Learning Trust, and working with our lead partner, South Cumbria ITT.

Our latest OFSTED report rates us Outstanding in all areas. Ofsted reports, ‘Trainees and apprentices experience a first-class ITE curriculum at Ripley ITT.’

Our training programmes

If you are already employed in a school setting, perhaps as a Teaching Assistant or Unqualified Teacher, you may be able to keep your employment while you train through our Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship Programme.

Whether you are a career changer or recent graduate, our provider-led SCITT programmes at both primary and secondary phases may be for you. They combine on-the-job training in our partner schools with focussed sessions with Ripley ITT’s trainers. There may be up to £30,000 available as a tax-free bursary to support your training.

This route is for those already working in a school as an unqualified teacher and meeting the expectations of the Teachers’ Standards who wish to achieve Qualified Teacher Status. It is not a training route.

If you are unsure which route is for you, you will find an overview of each of our options here. Explore all the possibilities and work out which one is best suited to your situation.

Why choose Ripley ITT?

We offer a special training experience for those wanting to enter the teaching profession. Find out about our trainees’ experience with Ripley ITT by clicking below.

Training has been incredibly impactful. Highlights have included creative learning, which I am looking forward to implementing next term in geography for example. I also am finding the EAL training helpful, as we are having a new EAL pupil with no English in our class next term. Support has been incredible in relation to securing my first post - thank you!”
